Budget depends on many different
circumstances:
•
Car value (it will determine the most
expensive cost in your budget, our rates
are insignificant in relation to the money
we can save on your purchase and tax
office registration).
•
Location
When buying in the Estates, shipping will
be more expensive when shipping from the
west coast.
Buying in Europe will save time and
headaches, however the offer is poor and
more expensive if buying an american car.
Customs duties can vary greatly
depending on the country, sometimes its
worthy to book extra transportion from
outside of Spain.
Spanish islands have different vat
percentages, some minor procedures are
different: Ceuta, Melilla, Canary Islands, ..
•
Shipping methods, they are different
ways to ship your car. Estimated cost will
be reduced or increase according to the
type of shipping.
Extra shipping cost to Canary Islands,
Baleares, Ceuta, and Mellilla.
•
Extra fee for car registration without
documents or title.
•
Registering under a physical person or
company cost the same, only varies
documents required.
•
When paying DUA duty in any country
you don´t need to pay vat or transfer tax
in Spain.
•
First registration tax cost 13.8% of car
value.
•
Transfer tax cost 4 or 8% of car value.
•
Road tax cost from €50 up to €250 per
year. However once the car is registered
under historic spanish plates, this tax will
be exempt.

SUGGESTIONS & TIPS
•
We always recommend to buy a classic car
instead of a modern car.
Classic cars are always a good investment,
specially nowadays.
•
When buying a car, you can get a low retail
project, an average retail value car, or a fully
restored vehicle. Sometimes it´s more
interesting to get a projec which requires a
full restoration than buying an average retail
value vehicle, unless you are able to spend a
lot of money buying a full restored car from a
well reputated professional.
Restore a classic car is not an easy task, you
will need time, patience, money, knowledge
and experience. Labor hours are not few, and
sometimes you may get stucked along the
way, however most of the times passion is
stronger enough to get through.
•
Before buying a project, contact parts
suppliers to check if they may provide all
parts you need and cost, including shipment
and taxes. Depending on the model it may
be very easy to find parts (Mustang, Corvette,
Beetle, …) or very difficult and expensive
(Lincoln, Packard, Cadillac, …)
•
If buying a Rolls Royce or Bentley you better
be sure that car works perfectly, otherwise
parts are extremely expensive and not all
mechanics are qualified to work with them.
•
When buying a car from USA make the deal
through a professional. Customs, shipping,
and taxes are not an easy task.
Unless you have a contact in the Estates or
have inspected the auto by yourself, better
buy from a well reputated dealer. If you are
buying online better paying 6000$ extra than
buying from a private seller and received
anything or a crappy car. Big companies
usuallly provide a 4k video with engine and
car running, and lots of high resolution pics.
Risk is high and waiting up to two months
for shipping overseas is endless.
•
When buying an imported car that has not
been registered yet, check DUA (or whatever
the custom duty is called in your country) is
already paid.
•
Ask the shipping company for a copy of an
insurance certificate.
•
When buying from a dealer or shop, make
sure that professional VAT or IVA number is
included in the invoice.
